Beyond the contemptible hypocrisy, Vince is clearly gotten to. AEW is on his radar, and now so is NXT. Consequently, the brand we rave about now is unlikely to make it to FS1. The name of the Forgotten Sons may soon find itself drenched in irony. “Developmental” can’t afford to develop new talent in this new context. We’ve seen the gameshow era of NXT. We’ve seen this incredible era of careful storytelling and exceptional in-ring performance.
Is the ’NXT: Such Good Sh*t’ era imminent?
In this new wrestling war, might the NXT brand become cannon fodder, in a human wave attack, under Vince’s totally reckless approach to promotion in 2019?
If an onscreen NXT Vs. WWE war scenario doesn’t come to pass, and the best case scenario unfolds—NXT becomes bigger, better, live and more vital—the move to FS1 is in itself impeccably calculated.
If only Vince could apply this nous to the benefit of his own creative, and not the detriment of the competition.
