This Unlikely WWE Star Wants NJPW Run
Another WWE star shows interest in trying their hand at an NJPW match...
Dana Brooke at least has some interest in experiencing an NJPW match.
The WWE star told Wrestling Inc.'s Nick Hausman as much in a new interview. Stating that she works with wrestlers who have experience competing in Japan, who always push her to her limits, Brooke said that if the opportunity to work an NJPW match arose, she would "talk it over."
Said Dana:-
“Yeah, it’s amazing because I do work with quite a few girls that have that experience as well, too, in the WWE ring. And it always feels like they push me to my limits. They elevate me. They bring out what’s best in me. But WWE is always home. It feels like it’s always home. So, given that opportunity, I would have to talk it over, and we would go from there.”
Recent years have seen NJPW incorporate a stronger women's wrestling presence into its shows, primarily through its partnership with leading joshi group Stardom. Stardom and NJPW share a parent company in Bushiroad. Joshi wrestlers have enjoyed roles on each of the last few Wrestle Kingdom shows, though this expanded with the IWGP Women's Title's creation in 2022.
Former WWE star KAIRI remains the inaugural IWGP Women's Champion. She'll defend that strap against Mercedes Moné at NJPW Battle In The Valley next weekend.
Brooke, meanwhile, has never worked outwith the WWE system, having started her wrestling career in 2014.
