TNA AGAINST ALL ODDS RECAP 12TH FEBRUARY 2012 LIVE FROM THE IMPACT! ZONE Backstage the annoying cameraman tries to talk to Jeff Hardy but he just smirks and walks on. Rude. Following that, the opening video packages focuses on the World Title match and how important Hogan thinks the company is. It is a VEGAS themed logo but thats about as far as the theme gets. No Tazz tonight as he is dealing with a family death, so we have Tenay and Borash on the headsets. #1 Contenders Match to the X Division TitleZema Ion vs. Jesse Sorensen All that hairspray is bad for the environment Zema. Matt Morgan is not the only one with a Carbon Footprint. Jesse carries his football as always in this battle of the entrance props. He give his to a kid at ringside cause hes that kind of guy. Zema gets in the kids face so Jesse meets him at ringside with some shots. Leapfrogs aplenty until Zema gets caught in a back drop then bridged into a Northern Lights for two. Jesse takes him outside, Zema loses it cause he spent four hours on that hair. Outside the ring Zema takes the football from the kid and Jesse baseball slides him from behind. He slingshots over the top but Zema moves and he hits the floor. Ion puts the football under the ring so the kid cant get it. Missile dropkick from Zema Ion knocks Jesse outside. He follows outside and springs off the corner with a Moonsault and catches Jesse in the head with his knees. Jesse falls REALLY awkwardly and it looks like he is legitimately knocked out. Something is definitely wrong with him. Referee starts a count out as Zema plays to the crowd and cameras. Jesse is dazed and looks barely able to move. Referee checks on Jesse, throws up the X for the legitimate injury and calls for the count out bell. Zema Ion plays up to the crowd and the cameras but is visibly a bit shaken up. The trainers come out to check on Jesse at ringside and they focus on close ups on Ion for a while. They replay the nice high spots that were building up and another look at the moonsault that injured Jesse. Tenay and Borash try and fill some time while they take care of Jesse and the crowd get behind him. Terrible way to start off the show and hopefully its a lot better than it looks. Christy Hemme is backstage with Roode does a general promo against his opponents to fill a bit more time. TV Title Match Robbie E (with Robbie T) vs. ?? Mike Tenay doesnt know why hes out here, he must not watch the behind the scenes stuff TNA put online. Robbie is out to offer an open challenge for his TV Title Bro! And the challenger is Shannon Moore. Crowd are understandably a bit flat and quiet since what happened in the first match. That and Shannon Moore is involved in this one. Robbie tries to leave early on but Moore brings him back to the ring. Its all Shannon for a while until Robbie takes him off the apron with a knee. Robbie takes control and soon after gets a flying fist drop with a long delay. Moore flips out of a back drop and connects with an Enziguri. This begins Shannons comeback who gets a two after a bulldog that E sells really well. E rolls outside and takes a baseball slide. Moore with an Asai Moonsault on E. Back in the rung for two. And two. And two. He climbs up for another moonsault, this time E moves and clotheslines him down. E goes up top now but Shannon crotches him. Hurricanrana from the top. One, Two, Kickout. E kick out of a rollup and sends Shannon into a big right hand from Robbie T on the outside. One Finisher DDT later and E has retained the title. One thing I do like that TNA do is replay ALL the major spots from the match just after. As we see the Knockout tale of the tape, we also hear some music in the background ripped straight of Sonic the Hedgehogs Casino Night Zone. Knockouts Title Match Gail Kim vs. Tara Madison Rayne and Gail Kim arent on the same page since their miscommunications lately. Tara jumps at the bell and gets a few hair mares. Snap Suplex float over into a two. Gail misses her corner charge as Tenay pretends he doesnt know what goes on at the Live Events. Its TV or nothing for Mad Mike. Gail gets a corner clothesline and a missile dropkick, but is shouting at Madison after every move. Madison has enough SCREW YOU and shes outta here. Tara kicks off a submission but then gets caught in an octopus hold by Kim. Ropes are reached. Snap Power slam from Tara and the Impact zone gets behind her. Airplane spin into a side slam gets her two. Tara takes Gail off the top and she rolls into place for a Moonsault which connects. Tara then starts selling that she landed on her knee, eventually crawls over for a two. Limping around now and goes for Widows Peak. Gail guts her and gives her a knee breaker followed by the EAT DEFEAT for a three count. Eat Da Feet? I dunno, either way she wins it thanks to Tara hurting her own stupid knee. Earl Hebner uses this chance to get a grope of her leg. James Storm is with Christy Hemme and saying this time it wont be a shock like last time when he wins. Tag Team Championship Match Matt Morgan and Crimson vs. Joe and Magnus TNA get the wrong graphic on the screen pre match. I have to say all the momentum is with Joe and Magnus and theyve shown more charisma together than Morgan and Crimson, Id reward them with some shiny gold belts. Does it really matter that Crimson is undefeated? He rarely even has singles matches. Morgan and Crimson double team Magnus, but only until Joe manages to get a shot in from the apron. Magnus takes control with the confusion clothesline. Joe and Magnus with frequent tags and double teams isolating Crimson. He tries to charge in for a tag but gets caught in a snap power slam from Joe. Crimson finally blocks a corner charge and gets a desperation clothesline and a hot tag. Morgan in, high knee to Magnus, discuss clothesline to Joe. Noggin knocker, double clothesline! Magnus and Joes double team finish sequence is countered by Morgan, but Crimson misses Joe and takes out Matt with a Spear! He shouts at his partner for getting in the way and gets thrown out by Joe. This time they hit their finishing sequence and we have new tag team champions! Christy asks Bully Ray how something feels, but he wants to know how it feels when she calls him up and he rejects her. Then insults her appearance and tells her to LEAVE FEEBLE WOMAN! Then announces himself as favourite for the match. X Division Title Match Austin Aries vs. Alex Shelley Yes TNA now is the time to show the X Factor graphic. Aries quick arm drag and after a few counters, cartwheels out of a move and poses on the top rope. Shelley doesnt let him lie and takes it to him with strikes. Alex sends him outside then vaults onto him on the floor. Jeremy Borash says always funny. Aries shove him off an early Sliced Bread attempt, then soon after gives him a hang man. Shelley gets the knees up on the follow up rope flip senton. Thrust Kick from Shelley then a clothesline to the floor. Shelley goes to dive to the outside but Aries has gone under the ring, around the other side and attacks from behind. Suicide dive by Aries through the bottom ropes! Goes for the senton into the ring this time it connects. Aries stays on top, and builds up his pendulum elbow drop. Just like on Impact, the move is avoided. Might be because he takes twenty minutes to deliver it. Shelley fights back and turns him inside out with a clothesline. Shelley smashes Aries with a knee to the buckle and Aries rolls outside and again tries his under the ring trick. Shelley has him scouted this time and drops him outside, following out with a suicide head butt. Back in the ring he measures a kick but his leg his caught. Aries with a combination knee breaker, backdrop and a Pendulum Elbow. brain buster reversed with a knee, Shelley Enziguri, Aries bounces back into the ropes and comes back with a discus punch. Sliced Bread blocked, attempted on the apron, Aries shoves him into the post. Death Valley Driver ON THE APRON!! Shelley oversells it on the floor but it was a great looking move. Double sledge from the top to the floor, rolls him in, only a two count. Aries up top, 450 misses, Sliced Bread by Shelley! One, Two, Thr-Hand on the ropes! Shelley misses a kick, Aries knees him in the head, boots him in the face, dropkick him in the corner, Brainbuster! One, Two, KICKOUT! Brainbuster set up again, Shelley rolls him up, only two! Shelley kick combination, One, Two, Kickout Again! This is Awesome chant. Sliced Bread once more? Reversed, Aries back to a front face lock and drives the knees into the face again. One more Brainbuster and into the Last Chancery! Shelley taps! Match of the night by a LONG way so far. Kazarian (with Daniels) vs. AJ Styles This one could also be a goodun. Daniels makes Kaz keep on his Fallen Angel t shirt before the match. He better have some decent dirt on him. Kaz wants a handshake, AJ backs him into the corner and yells at him instead, then rips the t shirt off. AJ is fired up from the outset and has control for quite a while. Kaz counters him in the corner, but AJ gets his nip up Rana. Kaz ends up on the floor, and AJ follows with a forearm from the apron. Back in the ring he sticks Kaz in an Indian Death Lock but he reaches the ropes. HIGH monkey flip by Kazarian. Springboard Leg Drop for two. Nice hiptoss into a neck breaker for another two. A bit later on they trade big forearm shots until AJ gets some HARD clotheslines. He sets for the Clash but Kaz counters into Fade to Black, Styles counters that, but Kaz manages to get a flying dropkick out of the corner. Kaz counters another attempt at the Clash then takes AJ face first into the apron with a rope vault DDT. AJ makes it in before ten, but gets slingshotted from the apron into a quick Cutter. Kaz is great at pulling out innovative moves. He gets AJ on the top and flies at him with a thrust kick. He climbs up to AJ and sets for the Flux Capacitor. AJ fights him off and pulls out his Backflip Reverse DDT! Two Only! They exchange pin reversals back and forth then AJ whips out a Pele! AJ knocks Kaz down and motions for his springboard into the ring, instead decides to moonsault onto Daniels on the outside! Crowd love it, but when he goes to springboard back in, Kaz catches him and drops him with the Fade to Black! One, Two, Three! Gunner and Eric Bischoff are with Christy and Eric fakes sympathy, but gives Gunner a towel for when Hogan has had enough and needs to throw it in. Gunner vs. Garrett Bischoff Do you think it bothers missing wrestlers that Garrett has such a high place on the card. Gunner mocks him to begin with, but of course then Garrett pulls out some moves. Some awkward arm drags to be precise. Eric pulls Garretts leg from the outside to give Gunner an advantage. Hes right back on the offence with some moves and a front face lock. Gunner shoves him off but again gets rolled up. Gunner takes control again. After a while Eric gets involved and Hogan decks him outside the ring. At some point Hogan starts taking concern with Garretts neck and for some reason wants to throw in the towel after hed just reversed a neck breaker. Why do that when hes on the offence? He gets off the apron, and Gunner gives Garrett a terrible looking DDT. And wins it. Not a great match, lets hope Gunner can move on somewhere decent after this storyline, he deserves it for having to sell Garretts green moves. Sting says he wants to make sure that everybody in the match is on their best behaviour. Im gunna make sure we have a clear cut winner tonight. Now that hes said that, I be he doesnt. Fatal Four Way TNA Title Match with Sting as Guest Enforcer Robert Roode vs. Bully Ray vs. Jeff Hardy vs. James Storm Even when Jeff Hardy is sober youd never know. His entrances just get more and more stupid. This time he has a scarf wrapped around his head and eyes painted on his eyelids. Bully Ray announces himself as new champion in Roodes face. I mean, LOOK AT THOSE CALVES! Roode tries to get him on his side once the bell rings. Ray doesnt look convinced. Instead, Ray goes and stands on the outside leaving Roode in the ring with storm and Hardy, who double team him. Front Suplex by hardy then a neck breaker from Storm. Tenay tells us that Jesse Sorensen has a neck injury but is undergoing further tests. Storm rolls up Hardy and gets a two count, then Hardy does the same thing. Meanwhile Roode is on the top rope so they go over and throw him off. At this point Ray joins the action and decks both the other challengers. Ray and Roode meet now and Ray slams him with a Rock Bottom! Storm breaks the count. Storm gets a Back Stabber on Roode for two, then they both suplex Ray Beer Money style. They both turn as if to do the old taunt but come face to face instead. Hardy back in gets Whisper in the Wind on Roode, then Ray boots HIM in the face. Devons better chant. Ray has hardy up top and gets a superplex. Ray tells Roode to ready for a Spike Pile driver but Storm crotches Roode on the top. Hardy and Storm set up a suplex on Roode, but Ray gets behind them and power bomb the whole stack into the ring. Hardy gets the Twist of Fate Stunner on Ray. Roode with a shoulder flap jack on Hardy. Roode charges at hardy but Ray shoulders him out of the way. He charges at Hardy now but instead takes the ref out. Guess its time for Sting to join in. Bully Bomb Tenay, not Bubba. Sting tries to wake the ref but Ray misses the chance at a three. Twist of Fate! Still the ref wont wake up. Big Spear from Roode on Hardy, storm gives him a code breaker and a Last Call! One, Two, Bully pulls out the ref. Sting gets in Bullys face and storm flies to the outside but hits the ref instead of Bully Ray. Back in the ring Roode spine busters Ray but takes an immediate Twist of Fate. He avoids the Swanton and grabs his title belt from the outside. Sting gets in there now and takes the belt. Roode gets in his face and calls him gutless. Sting falls for it and swings once Roode spits at him, but Roode moves and the belt hits Hardy instead. Sting is upset. Roode covers. Sting is reluctant and wont count. But then he does. Why the fuck couldnt he do that when Ray and Hardy had covers earlier? That doesnt make any sense. Roode closes the show STILL your Heavyweight Champion as Sting explains what happened to Jeff.
