TNA "Working Every Day" On New TV Deal (TNA News)
TNA President Carlos Silva discusses a potential new TV deal.
Riding high in the success of Slammiversary last month, we recently grabbed some time with TNA President Carlos Silva to discuss a whole bunch of topics, including the latest on a new TV deal for the Anthem promotion.
TNA currently airs on the Anthem-owned AXS in the US, and some have often suggested that it may prove tricky for TNA to look for an alternative TV home. Now, though, Silva has recently been extremely open about how TNA is currently exploring options for a new TV deal and possibly even running live weekly TV, with rumblings and rumours suggesting the likes of A&E and The CW as possible destinations. In fact, it was only last month that Carlos told Ariel Helwani that an announcement could be just 60-90 days away.
When asked if there's been any progress on this matter, Silva told us:
"It’s only been a couple of weeks since Slammiversary. A few things have happened since Slammiversary, some more discussions have happened. We continue to work on it every day. It’s the number 1, number 2, and number 3 on my docket, on my to-do list every day, which is ‘how to bring TNA to a bigger audience’.By the way, not just in the [United] States. We’ve already got a great deal with Sportsnet in Canada. We’ve already got a great deal with Claro in Mexico and a bunch of South American countries. We’ve got a great deal in India with Warner Bros. Discovery. But we need a great deal in the UK, we need a great deal in Germany, and we need a great deal in the US. So, we’re working on all of them.
AdvertisementI do think the window is still about that same timeframe. August does get a little slow in general for everyone - getting the kids back to school at the end of August, taking a last vacation - so sometimes you do lose a week or two in August, but it’s okay, we keep working every day.All I can tell the fans is it’s my job to work on it every day. I take it very seriously. We’re going to keep working on it, because I want more and more fans to see what the team does and what the wrestlers do in the ring. It’s a great product, there’s a lot of heart and soul and emotion that goes into it, and we need more people to see it. I hope everyone can take a look and get on TNA+ and see Fade to Black, because that gives everyone a little glimpse into what happens in TNA, and then hopefully come out to our shows.
AdvertisementAs soon as we have it done and we get the I’s dotted, the T’s crossed, we’ll let you know."
As mentioned, TNA Slammiversary 2025 was a major success for the company, generating a bunch of buzz, and bringing in a crowd of 7,623 at UBS Arena, which is a North American attendance record for TNA.
While Slammiversary was big for the promotion, it's looking to go one better again for TNA Bound for Glory this October.
Taking place at Lowell, Massachusetts' Tsongas Center on 12 October, the aim is for Bound for Glory to top the attendance of Slammiversary.
As Carlos Silva explained:
"We’re looking for more than at UBS Arena [for] Slammiversary. It’s very simple. We’ve put out the challenge to the team, we want to break the record again, let’s keep getting bigger. The only way to do that is to put the carrot out there for all of us to go get. So, the team has all sort of wondered about it, ‘Can we do it? How do we do it?’ Then everyone was like, ‘Yes, we’re all going to do it together.’ So, we’ve set up the arena to break the record, and we’re going to go and do it. I think the fans will support us and come out, and we’ll celebrate together."
The last time TNA was at the Tsongas Center was back in 2008 for that year's Lockdown PPV, which was headlined by Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle in a Six Sides of Steel bout. With an attendance of 5,500 for that event, TNA is out to not only smash that number, but also set another record by bringing in more fans than last month's Slammiversary.
Of course, we couldn't sit down with the TNA President and not discuss the company returning to the United Kingdom. On that front, TNA last visited the UK for a short four-date tour back in 2023. Considering the extensive history the company has with the UK - be that running shows here as far back as 2008, the various British stars to have appeared for TNA, or even the British Boot Camp series - many fans are eager to see TNA back on UK soil at some point soon.
When asked whether it was feasible to expect TNA to return to the UK in 2026, Carlos Silva was optimistic:
"It’s absolutely feasible. We’d like to couple it with two other pieces. We’d like to couple it with a distribution deal, as well as a sponsorship deal over in the UK. We’re working on both of those, and if we can get them to come together and we can drive the needle, we’re going to come back to the UK. We absolutely want to. We’re excited about it. Like everything, it’s a work in progress. You’ve got to sort of pick your targets. Slammiversary was obviously a big target, a big success. Bound for Glory as well. Distribution deal. New sponsorship deal. Expansion of territories. All those are on our shortlist, and the UK’s right there at the top of it."
