At one point in time, WWE was more than happy to have its talent and staff bring their pets backstage with them. With that process having long since stopped, Tommy Dreamer has now detailed exactly why pets became a no-no at WWE shows.

Speaking to Jordynne Grace as Thick Mama Pump joining him on his House of Hardcore podcast - as picked up on by POST Wrestling - Dreamer explained:

“In WWE, there became a point where they banned animals from the back. It was funny, it was always the women, and their locker rooms were left horrible, and there was one [venue] where they finally complained because there was poop left in the locker room. There was pee, and the girl… because, at one point, it was like a zoo.
I think four of the girls had animals, and then one of the boys brought in one of his dogs and then WWE banned it. ‘You can’t have fun. You’re at work, damn it!’”

Dreamer had several stints with WWE over the years, with the Innovator of Violence last appearing as an in-ring talent for the company back in 2016. These days, the ECW icon can be found in IMPACT Wrestling – where he works as a producer as well as a talent – running his House of Hardcore promotion, and is a regular on Busted Open Radio in addition to his own podcast.
