Toni Storm RIPS "Nonsense" Interim AEW Title Situation
Toni Storm calls out Thunder Rosa ahead of inevitable AEW Women's World Title unification.
Toni Storm wants to wrestle Thunder Rosa and end the "nonsense" surrounding her status as Interim AEW Women's World Champion.
This divisive classification has belonged to Storm since All Out 2022 (4 September), where she prevailed in a four-way bout to crown an interim title-holder in Rosa's absence. This strap, ostensibly a placeholder, was created when it was revealed that injury was preventing Rosa from defending the actual AEW Women's World Championship.
A unification match looms for Toni and Rosa, who came together onscreen as ThunderStorm prior to the latter's injury issues. Now, in a new interview with Bleacher Report, Storm has placed wrestling Thunder and stopping "this interim nonsense" at the top of her to-do list.
When asked what's next for her, Storm told BR's Chris Mueller:-
"I guess my first thing would be to beat Thunder Rosa and stop this interim nonsense. That's kind of what's been bothering me. I think that's been bothering a lot of people because she's still calling herself the AEW women's world champion and I'm the one here every week doing the work. Right now. I guess it's about being a good champion, being a strong champion. That's what I'm up against every day. I'm working harder than I ever had in my entire career. The time is now. I look at every week as just an opportunity to prove myself. I love giving it my all and who knows where we go from here? But all I know is I'm gonna continue to work hard."
Rosa remains in recovery, making it impossible to tell when she will be able to wrestle Storm and unify the AEW Women's World Championships. In her absence, Toni has mounted three successful defences, with her opposition including Serena Deeb, Britt Baker, and Athena.
