Tony Khan On Buying TNA Wrestling - Is It Too Expensive?! (AEW News)
AEW boss Tony Khan addresses thoughts of buying TNA and its asking price.
AEW boss Tony Khan dismissed a rumoured $40m asking price to buy TNA during a media call to promote his upcoming Forbidden Door 2026 pay-per-view this weekend, journalist Andrew Baydala reports. Wrestlenomics head Brandon Thurston was the one who asked if Tony would be interested.
He would be, but not at that price point.
At first, Khan was unsure exactly how much it'd cost to purchase TNA. Thurston suggested the $40m mark, and Tony answered quickly: "No, absolutely not". The AEW kingpin did, however, praise TNA for switching back from the failing Impact Wrestling brand, and he seemed most interested in securing the tape library that Total Nonstop has to offer.
It makes sense to believe that WWE would be interested in that too, assuming it was ever up for sale. They made a habit of hoovering up archives for groups like WCW, ECW, World Class, Mid-South, the AWA and more when piecing together content for the old WWE Network, and the promotion has continued to utilise libraries via vault channels on YouTube.
Khan was also quick to point out that he isn't actively trying to buy TNA. This was simply a fun question from Thurston to shake things up amidst all of the Forbidden Door chatter, and it does fit the theme of the pay-per-view given AEW's alliances with other organisations heading into Sunday's show.
Indeed, New Japan, CMLL and Stardom will be heavily featured this weekend. They'll mix it with various core AEW stars as Tony continues his variety pack presentation on Forbidden Door.
