Vince McMahon Sr. was one of the most influential promoters during the 1960s, and his promotion used to attract big numbers for its shows in the Northeast (primarily in Baltimore, New York and New Jersey). He formed the WWWF along with Joseph Raymond Mondt, a former professional wrestler, after getting into a dispute with the members of NWA. Vince McMahon Sr. was known for being a fair promoter, and according to Fabulous Moolah, he was the first of the promoters to split gate proceeds with the wrestlers. It was under Vince McMahon Sr. that Bruno Sammartino became the face of the organization, and WWWF began doing sell out business by 1970. Vince McMahon Sr. sold the parent company of the WWF to his son, Vince McMahon Jr. in 1982. Vince McMahon Jr. went against his fathers wishes when he decided to make WWF a global promotion. Regarding this, Vince McMahon Jr. once said, Had my father known what I was going to do, he never would have sold his stock to me.
