Add Adam Cole to AEW's rapidly expanding injury list for Forbidden Door.

The Undisputed Elite man was seemingly hurt while competing for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at AEW and NJPW's first collaborative pay-per-view last night, going down towards the end of his bout with Jay White, Kazuchika Okada, and 'Hangman' Adam Page.

Cole had much of the match built around his friendship and simmering tension with Bullet Club ally White. He was involved in the finish, but seemingly not in the way intended, falling to the mat after ducking away from an Okada Rainmaker. Despite not being struck by Okada, Cole was then pinned by White after the IWGP World Champion took 'The Rainmaker' out of the equation.

Post-finish, White was seen communicating with the referee. The Young Bucks then came out to check on Cole, who, commentary noted, was able to leave the ring of his own volition.

Specifics on Cole's condition were not apparent at the time of writing, though Figure Four Online/The Wrestling Observer's Bryan Alvarez has confirmed the injury:-

This was Cole's first match since last month's Double Or Nothing 2022 pay-per-view, where he was hurt while facing Samoa Joe in the Owen Hart Cup tournament finals.

With CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Cole, and a host of other stars all out of action at the moment, AEW is in the midst of an injury crisis. The silver lining to this grey cloud is that the promotion's large roster means AEW should be well-equipped to navigate these choppy waters. Nonetheless, we wish each of the promotion's wounded warriors all the best as they recover.
