It looks like WWE are about to add another highly-talented name to their stacked women's roster, with indie standout Mercedes Martinez set to start with the promotion later this month.

This is according to SoCal Uncensored (the website, not the AEW trio), who report that the 39-year-old is expected to report to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida in late January, though there's no word on when she'll be slotted into NXT programming.

One of the most highly thought of names left on the independents, Martinez is a 19-year-old veteran with a wealth of experience working for companies like Shimmer and SHINE, and it's borderline miraculous that she remained a free agent for so long.

Martinez has previous WWE experience from the 2017 and 2018 Mae Young Classic tournaments, and has also filled a couple of spots on NXT television as well. On top of this, she competed for AEW twice in 2019, first as a participant in All Out's Casino Battle Royal, then again on episode five of Dark, where she and Big Swole lost to Allie and Sadie Gibbs.

Neither Martinez nor WWE have commented on the situation at the time of writing.
