Top ROH Star Wants AEW Return In 2024
ROH ace outlines triple title ambitions in AEW.
ROH's ace of 2023, Athena, is eyeing an AEW return in 2024.
Speaking on Under the Ring, Athena stated that her career's next step should be heading back to AEW, seemingly expressing disappointment at how her previous run went.
Said the ROH Women's World Champion (h/t Wrestling Inc.):
"I think the next step for me would definitely to take a crack at AEW TV again. My first time around wasn't great and I lost to the all-powerful Jade Cargill."
Continuing, the 'Fallen Goddess' outlined her goal of becoming a Triple Crown Champion next year, targeting Julia Hart's TBS and Toni Storm's AEW Women's World Championships:
"I want to be a triple crown champion by the end of 2024. I am going after all the belts, the TBS Championship –- Julia Hart, the AEW Women's Championship -– Toni Storm. I'm not content with just beating up these fragile broads left and right, this is your warning, I am coming for you guys in 2024. It doesn't matter what anyone says, you got an X on your back and it's only a matter of time before we get there."
Athena last wrestled on AEW television in July, facing Willow Nightingale on a Rampage taping, though she appeared on the WrestleDream and All Out 'Zero Hour' pre-shows in September and October. She has primarily wrestled in ROH 2023, becoming a headliner for the Tony Khan-helmed group, having captured the Women's World Championship from Mercedes Martinez last December and holding it ever since.
ROH's most prominent storyline of the year will conclude this Friday, when Athena defends her belt against former protege Billie Starkz in the Final Battle 2023 main event.
