A big WWE return is currently lined-up for this week's episode of SmackDown, with PWInsider's Mike Johnson reporting that King Woods will be on television for the first time in several weeks.

The New Day man is set to be at the tapings in Kansas City, Missouri ahead of the following night's Royal Rumble 2022 show. On top of this, he is expected to be added back to WWE's road schedule from Friday onwards, though there is no word on whether or not he has been cleared to compete following a recent injury.

Woods announced that he expected to miss around 4-6 weeks of action during a recent episode of G4's Attack of the Show, outlining how he got hurt while wrestling The Usos on SmackDown's 7 January episode:-

"I was jumping in the ring to do a DDT. I spring off the bottom rope and grab the guy and then run his head into the ground, hopefully shattering all the bones in his body so I can pin him and win the match and make more money. So, I did that part still. But in the process... just jumping off the ropes, so nothing like -- not a shark attack, not a steel chair hit, not a machine gun, not a machete -- I just jumped."

Wood's New Day stablemates Kofi Kingston and Big E are due to face Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss on SmackDown this week.
