Yup: all those rumours have proven absolutely true, as WWE have announced none other than Torrie Wilson is set to be inducted into the 'hallowed' Hall of Fame.

The news that Idahoan Wilson is entering WWE's league of legends was first announced by ESPNW. She'll be joining confirmed names D-Generation X and The Honky Tonk Man for a ring fitting ahead of the big ceremony at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on 6 April.

Former fitness model Wilson got her first break in the industry when Scott Steiner invited her to walk out with him at a WCW show in 1999. She made her full debut in February, obviously recruited to the nWo as a means of turning David Flair against his father Ric.

When WWE bought out WCW in 2001, Wilson became a prominent part of the product. Although popular, Wilson became better known for her Playboy shoots than her pro-wrestling acumen, emblematic of an era when WWE treated their female performers as mere titillation rather than actual competitors.

Wilson remained with the company until 2008, 'highlights' including the feud with Dawn Marie revolving around father Al, and the drastic WrestleMania 22 Playboy Pillow Fight.

Following the Hall of Fame announcement, Wilson reflected that induction means more to her than the title she never managed to win:

"Being inducted into the Hall of Fame feels like a championship belt to me, because it really makes me feel appreciated."
