6. The Undertaker vs. Jeff Hardy (WWE Title Ladder Match) - Raw July 1, 2002
It's a match that a lot of fans love because The Undertaker was in the role of "Big Evil" as the top heel in the company that happened to be the WWE Champion too. They set up this match on Raw where he took on Jeff Hardy, who was in the role of an underdog. What made it so interesting is that there was a Ladder Match stipulation. That made things really interesting because prior to this match, Ladder Matches were associated with high flying wrestlers for the most part. That's not what Undertaker was known for obviously. The idea was that with Undertaker out of his element, maybe Hardy could beat him. It wasn't a match that had a lot of false finishes. It was a brawl that was built around a ladder match. There were a couple of moments where Hardy was inches away from making history, but Undertaker kept finding ways to prevent that happening. Some memorable spots included when Hardy countered a Powerbomb with a chair shot to the head. Undertaker got back up to beat him with a chair. Undertaker gave Hardy a Chokeslam off the top of the ladder to retain the WWE Title. The ending is what a lot of people remember too. Hardy told Undertaker that he was still standing. Even though Undertaker was a badass heel, he went back in the ring, tapped him on the head and raised his hand as a sign of respect. Very cool moment to end one of Raw's best matches ever.
