Update On Chris Hero's Wrestling Future
Chris Hero, the former Kassius Ohno, hasn't wrestled since WWE let him go in April.
This week saw free agent Chris Hero debut his Can Chris Hero Save Wrestling? podcast alongside wrestling super-host Conrad Thompson of adfreeshows.com.
One of the debut episode's most pressing matters was Hero's future in the sport, as the former Kassius Ohno hasn't worked since being cut as part of WWE's mass Black Wednesday releases in April 2020. On competing again, Hero said that while he still expects to eventually get back in the ring, he won't be doing so until it feels like the right move. This and the ongoing global health crisis are why he is yet to emerge from his hiatus.
Hero last worked as part of WWE's NXT UK brand, working his 'Wrestling Genius' gimmick. He was a regular player on that show, competing with the likes of Dave Mastiff, Kenny Williams, and Jack Starz, with the gig allowing him to make appearances for WWE-affiliated promotions like PROGRESS and wXw at the same time.
All of this came following a largely disappointing second stint in NXT proper, where Hero was slotted back in after concluding what is widely regarded as one of the most impressive indie runs of all time between 2013 and 2016.
