Update On Seriously Injured Top AEW Star
All Elite Wrestling has endured rotten luck this year; this report may reverse that somewhat...
In what - fingers crossed - is potentially very welcome news, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided an update on Adam Cole.
The winner of the inaugural men's Owen Hart Foundation Cup last wrestled at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view, during which he was severely concussed in a four-way match for the IWGP Heavyweight title. This was the second head injury he had suffered within a month. Concerns grew as the weeks and months unfolded with no updates, and unease mutated into something far more alarming at the All Out 2022 press conference; there, CM Punk, otherwise in an infamously foul mood, still saw fit to put Cole over as a human being. He said Cole was a sweetheart and expressed his hope, in a sombre tone, that he was OK. Around this time, updates were scarce beyond a lurking sense of dread.
Happily, Meltzer, when asked for an update on Twitter, came through with the following:
He's doing much better. The last I heard is they were being cautious. Don't have any time frame for a return. With concussions, you can't predict time frame. https://t.co/LNYhLLHXF6

It can be inferred that Cole may well be nearing a return to competition. The word "cautious" here seems key; hopefully, for Cole and his fans, he will wrestle again soon, and is capable of doing so - but AEW's medical staff are being extremely stringent before allowing him to.
