Update On The Young Bucks' New AEW Contracts
The latest on Nick and Matt Jackson's new contracts with AEW.
News that The Young Bucks had signed new AEW contracts broke last week, leading to Matt and Nick Jackson using their Twitter bio to clarify that said deals now ran until 2024, not 2026, which was originally reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer has an update in the latest WON stating that the Bucks initially signed three-year AEW contracts commencing on 1 January 2019. Those would have expired on 31 December 2021, but came with the option of an extra two years at Tony Khan's discretion. Khan ended up triggering that, hence the extension, with the Jacksons also scoring pay rises as part of it.
As well as their onscreen work, both Young Bucks have operated as AEW Executive Vice Presidents since the company's inception.
All Out 2021 saw the Bucks finish a 302-day reign as AEW World Tag Team Champions by dropping the belts to The Lucha Brothers in an acclaimed steel cage match. They have been working primarily as a trio with Adam Cole since then, reprising their old Superkliq name.
Matt and Nick have been inactive, wrestling-wise, since 13 November's Full Gear 2021, claiming they aren't medically cleared to compete.
