Update On WWE's Plans For TV Around Clash At The Castle
How will heading to the UK for Clash at the Castle impact WWE's TV schedule?
WWE does not plan on taping weekly television shows while in the United Kingdom for Clash at the Castle.
The 3 September premium live event will be the promotion's first major stadium show in the country since SummerSlam 1992. Taking place in Cardiff, Wales' Principality Stadium, the supershow hasn't had a match announced yet, though Drew McIntyre challenging Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has been rumoured for the main event slot.
Speaking on Inside the Ropes' new Monday Night Live show, Alex McCarthy reported that WWE plans on pre-taping the 2 September episode of SmackDown in the United States before travelling to the UK for Clash. Personnel will have then returned to the US in time for the 5 September episode of Raw.
McCarthy noted that WWE may yet opt to hold other shows in the UK around Clash, potentially on the 2 and 4 September, though the promotion is yet to announce anything regarding that.
Perhaps surprisingly, given the astronomical interest levels prior to tickets going on sale, Clash at the Castle is yet to sell out. Expect ticket sale movement to accelerate once WWE starts putting the lineup together.
