WWE SummerSlam 2020 goes down on 23 August at a still-to-be-determined location, with the promotion putting the pay-per-view's first two matches together on last night's RAW.

The first and most notable of these is Drew McIntyre putting his WWE Championship on the line against Randy Orton. 'The Legend Killer' announced his intention to challenge McIntyre in RAW's opening segment, cutting a typically fine promo that focused heavily on his incredible wrestling legacy, before McIntyre clapped back with his own fiery diatribe.

This dovetailed into McIntyre's main event with Dolph Ziggler. Drew won the Extreme Rules match-up but was downed by an Orton RKO after the bell, leading to Randy posing with the WWE Championship as RAW closed.

Orton vs. McIntyre has been rumoured for months, with Drew previously stating off-camera that 'The Legend Killer' would be his ideal SummerSlam opponent, foreshadowing the booking.

Also announced was RAW Tag Team Champions The Street Profits vs. Andrade and Angel Garza. The heels won the opportunity to challenge Ford and Dawkins by defeating The Viking Raiders and Cedric Alexander/Ricochet in a fast-moving, action-packed opening bout, with the Profits on commentary. The two tandems got into it after the bell, though Garza and Andrade were quickly chased off.
