Velveteen Dream Released By WWE
New reports indicate that the Velveteen Dream has been fired by WWE.
In a move that may not come as a surprise to some, it appears that the Velveteen Dream has been released by WWE.
As per PWInsider, Dream was let go by WWE earlier today. While the eight NXT talent cuts of yesterday were put down to “budget cuts”, there’s no word just yet on what the formal reasoning was for the WWE departure of the Washington native.
The Velveteen Dream hasn’t been seen on NXT programming since losing to Adam Cole on the 23 December 2020 episode of the black and gold brand’s weekly show. More recently, the former North American Champion was backstage at the 10 May episode of Raw – although he wasn’t used on TV, nor has it been revealed exactly why Dream was at Raw on that Monday.
After appearing on WWE Tough Enough earlier that year, Patrick Clark was signed to a WWE deal in October 2015.
At one point viewed as a can’t-miss prospect who was destined for a significant spot on either the Raw or SmackDown brand, Dream’s career hit a wall last year due to controversy and injury.
In regards to that controversy, Triple H has said how WWE looked into allegations of Clark sending inappropriate direct messages on social media – and that the company was satisfied with what they found from their investigation.
WWE has yet to publicly confirm Velveteen Dream's WWE release.
