Vince McMahon's power over WWE is growing insidiously, with the disgraced 77-year-old returning to his office last week after resuming his position on the company's Board of Directors as Executive Chairman.

Ringside News reported over the weekend that despite stories to the contrary, McMahon was in his office all of last week. This led to the former CEO suggesting changes in multiple departments.

The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer has today corroborated this report, stating that initial assertions that McMahon wouldn't be in the office performing day-to-day functions has already changed. Initially, it was stated that Vince was only returning to facilitate a potential sale of WWE, as well as negotiating its next batch of content rights deals.

Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, WWE's head of creative, conceded during a pre-SmackDown talent meeting last week that he and Vince hay have discussions following the 77-year-old's return. Despite this, McMahon currently defers creative power to Levesque, who has been in this position since Vince resigned in disgrace last July.

That pre-SmackDown meeting was described as a "calm down" session in Fightful Select's original report. Perhaps more will be needed as McMahon exerts further control.
