GUNTHER should be thankful that Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, not Vince McMahon, is penning WWE's storylines these days - as the disgraced former Chairman and CEO would likely have buried the current Intercontinental Champion had he still been around.
This is per WrestleVotes in conjunction with GiveMeSport. Their report states that McMahon wasn't happy with what he witnessed from GUNTHER during a 4 July 2022 Raw segment with R-Truth, to the extent that he wanted to bury the Austrian, send him back to NXT, or something similar.
In contrast, Levesque is high on GUNTHER. WWE's head of creative sees him as having big heel potential - enough to be around for the next 10/12 years - and while his card position will vary, Triple H knows his IC champ will give him a good match every time.
As a result, Levesque is going to "give [GUNTHER] a shot", with the acclaimed Clash At The Castle bout opposite Sheamus seemingly a big help in that regard.
GUNTHER has effectively been a main roster regular since the aforementioned R-Truth segment. Later that week, he was moved over to SmackDown, where he and stablemate Ludwig Kaiser have resided ever since. The trio were joined by Giovanni Vinci at Clash, completing Imperium's lineup once more.
