'The War Dog' regained the gold on last night's AEW Dynamite after defeating outgoing titleholder Powerhouse Hobbs with three powerbombs.

The finish was far from the whole story of the match. Having fallen victim to a scheme by Hobbs and associate QT Marshall when he lost the belt, Wardlow surprisingly linked up with Arn Anderson, revealing their newfound bond just minutes before heading to the ring for the match.

After the pair brawled in and out of the crowd, Marshall was attacked by both Anderson and Penta El Zero M, removing him from the equation and clearing the way for Wardlow to retain in front of a Pittsburgh crowd that were red hot for the title change.

It brings to an end a divisive reign for Hobbs, having won the title on March 8th to kick off the ill-fated QTV storyline. He mostly defended the title on Rampage and House Shows save for the squash win over Silas Young on last week's Dynamite that set up this showdown. As Champion, he was also defeated alongside Marshall at Battle Of The Belts 6. The pair fell to The Lucha Bros in a ROH Tag Team Title scrap but clearly left enough room for the afters that occurred here.
