What Cody Rhodes Told Sami Zayn Backstage At WWE Royal Rumble 2023
Sami Zayn and Cody Rhodes shared an interesting exchange at WWE Royal Rumble 2023.
Sami Zayn has revealed that he and Cody Rhodes shared an interesting little backstage chat at the 2023 Royal Rumble last month.
The one-time "Honorary Uce" told Fightful that Cody approached him to say, "This is awkward, huh?". Royal Rumble winner Rhodes was referring to the fact that both he and Sami are getting over huge as babyfaces during WWE's road to WrestleMania 39.
That "problem" (which is definitely a good headache to have for creative) has left Triple H and his writers in a tough spot. Do they knock Zayn out of the title picture at Elimination Chamber this weekend, or do they keep his story vs. Roman Reigns ticking along heading into 'Mania and turn the main event into a three-way scenario?
Sami told the website he "wouldn't change a thing" about his story to date. In fact, he's not sure another bout with Reigns (even at WrestleMania) could be "bigger" than challenging him for World Titles in Montreal at Elimination Chamber.
It's fun that Cody laughed off the dual babyface rise thing as "awkward". Both guys likely shared a giggle about that.
