What Was The Original Finish Of RK-Bro Match On WWE Raw?
Injury to Orton forced change to tag match against Street Profits Monday night.
Monday's tag match pitting RK-Bro against the Street Profits ended abruptly Monday night when Randy Orton sustained an injury due to Montez Ford's frog splash and was subsequently pinned, but now we know more about how that match was supposed to unfold.
Fightful Select reports that the wrestlers had to go right to the finish after Ford's frog splash because Orton "was initially unable to move." The report states that RK-Bro were scheduled to win the tag match with a series of RKOs, but due to Orton's condition, they went right to the modified finish we saw of Ford pinning the Viper.
The report goes on to note that initial indications were that Orton only sustained a stinger or a tweak, but Fightful has since learned that he had "the wind knocked out of him, his ribs crushed," and wasn't able to move. The good thing is that there's no heat on Ford for delivering the punishing move, as it's viewed as a "s**t happens" moment.
RK-Bro is slated to compete against Kevin Owens & Seth Rollins and Alpha Academy for the Alphas' Raw Tag Team Championship on next week's Raw. Orton and Riddle lost the tag titles to the Alphas in January.
Here's hoping that Orton's injury is a short-term one and that he's able to go next week. He and Riddle have clicked exceptionally well and been one of the most entertaining parts of Raw the past several months, and it would be a huge shame if any plans WWE has for RK-Bro at WrestleMania 38 are scuttled.
