What WWE Is Looking For In New Signings
An update on what WWE is looking for in wrestlers coming in for tryouts.
WWE is reportedly going back to the days of looking to signing younger, bigger wrestlers in what looks like a notable shift in company policy.
Dave Meltzer noted in the 31 May edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE was shifting from its model of prioritising great workers, regardless of their size and age. In this week's Newsletter, he emphasises that WWE is looking for younger wrestlers, asking for males to be a legitimate 6' tall and 220lbs in weight. On top of this is an emphasis on minorities.
Per Fightful Select, WWE's latest round of reported tryouts featured AEW Dark regulars John Skyler, David Ali, and Brady Pierce, indie notables Jason Cade, Wheeler Yuta, and Alexander James, and more.
It takes little more than a glance at WWE's talent roster to know that for the past few years, the company's signing policy has largely revolved around tenured indie wrestlers who had already made their name on wrestling's smaller stages. Now, many of those smaller stages are gone.
February saw WWE welcome its largest recruitment class ever into the Performance Center, featuring the likes of LA Knight, Franky Monet, and Bronson Rechsteiner.
