Chad Gable defeated Mustafa Ali Monday night in a fairly nondescript 3-minute match on Raw.

But what made this notable is that it was Gable's first televised win in a singles match in two years. Gable last won a one-on-one match on the June 15, 2020 edition of SmackDown, beating Mojo Rawley. Even more interesting, this came during his ill-fated renaming to Shorty G. He actually hadn't won a singles bout as "Chad Gable" since October 2019 against King Corbin at Hell in a Cell.

To be fair, Gable has wrestled as part of a tag team with Otis, Alpha Academy. The duo held the Raw Tag Team Championship for two months earlier this year, losing the titles to RK-Bro in March.

Still, Gable's winless streak lasted for 18 matches, losing along the way to superstars such as Randy Orton, Sheamus, Riddle, Big E, Dominik Mysterio, and Ezekiel three times.

It's doubtful that this win signals a shift in Gable's character, and he and Otis are still welded together as a team. But at least he got the monkey off his back.
