According to comments from the man himself on ex-WCW ring announcer David Penzer's 'Sitting Ringside' podcast, Ernest 'The Cat' Miller almost became WCW World Champion in the year 2000. What's more, the dancing fool was in line to beat none other than Hulk Hogan for the belt.

Miller said that he was earning rave reviews for his work as Commissioner on Nitro from the likes of Sting and Hogan - Hulk was reportedly so impressed by what 'The Cat' was doing that he pitched a feud with the James Brown-loving karate master over the big gold belt.

It never happened.

The timeline of this is a bit messed up. In order for Miller's claim to be valid, the rivalry would've had to have happened somewhere after all that Bash At The Beach controversy also involving Jeff Jarrett, Vince Russo and Booker T.

In Miller's world, he was next in line for a shot at Hogan had Hulk left the pay-per-view as champ. In fairness, things couldn't have been much worse for WCW in 2000. Miller vs. Hogan, an offshoot of the New Blood vs. Millionaire's Club story, would definitely not have been worse than 99.9% of company output that year.
