IMPACT Wrestling's W. Morrissey was Wardlow's mystery opponent on last night's episode of AEW Dynamite, with the former Big Cass serving as another roadblock on the former bodyguard's quest for a match with the man he was once paid to protect.

Recent weeks have seen MJF throw increasingly threatening monster heels at Wardlow in hope of quashing his surge in popularity and power. With The Butcher and Lance Archer both failing to get the job down, MJF reached deeper into his wallet, building Morrissey up as a surprise opponent in Baltimore (though he admittedly showed his hand by dropping the big man's "... and you can't teach that" catchphrase last week).

Morrissey wasn't necessarily protected in defeat. Though he controlled periods of the match, it took a single powerbomb to put him down where Wardlow will typically hit several as part of his signature Symphony. Wardlow is the priority here, though. A match designed to make him look strong (above all other goals) succeeded in doing so.

Afterwards, when Wardlow tore through the security team employed to restrain him, MJF finally consented to a match with the big man. The terms of it will be outlined in a special contract signing on next week's show.

Morrissey, who also wrestles as caZXL, has been with IMPACT since April 2021.
