Why Did WWE Mock Kevin Owens' Weight On Raw?

Yes he has a belly, but is that so bad?

During the opening promo on Raw this week, Kevin Owens was in the ring with Seth Rollins and Cesaro. Randy Orton walked out and threw in a line about Kevin Owens when he wondered if he had gained any weight. Apparently that was a line scripted by WWE officials who are against Owens because they think he looks fat, according to Wrestling Observer Radio. Orton's short line was: "Kevin, have you put on weight lately?" Then he made a motion suggesting a big belly. Owens replied with a "no" as Orton moved on. Owens ended up competing in a triple threat match against Orton and Cesaro, which Orton won when he hit a RKO on Cesaro and pinned him. It was a great match that proved once again that Owens is one of the best in-ring performers in WWE.

This is similar to a rumour that we covered in June when Owens lost some steam after a hot first month on WWE's main roster. Apparently people high up in WWE like long time Executive Producer Kevin Dunn aren't big fans of Owens, so this could have come from somebody siding with Dunn. WWE Hall of Fame announcer Jim Ross chimed in on Twitter with some thoughts on the subject. https://twitter.com/JRsBBQ/status/631175874130243584 Is there really heat on Owens by management? Probably not that much. While he isn't in a top two or three match at SummerSlam, he is likely facing Cesaro at that event and he's also headlining NXT Takeover Brooklyn one night earlier at the biggest NXT event WWE has ever had. Owens is really well liked by Triple H, so hopefully he is never "buried" like some fans worry that he might be.
