Dave Meltzer has clarified the reason behind WWE's decision to release Nash Carter, doing so on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio.

According to Meltzer, the 27-year-old was let go for the photograph of him imitating a Nazi salute with his moustaches shaved down to match Adolf Hitler's, which Carter's wife, Kimber Lee, posted to Twitter on Tuesday. Nash's release was not related to the various allegations of domestic abuse Lee had hit the now-former NXT Tag Team Champion with over the past few days.

The IMPACT wrestling star's most notable tweet featured two images of her sporting facial injuries, claiming an intoxicated Carter had struck her a year or so ago.

Meltzer noted that NXT personnel are "very sympathetic" towards Carter for what has happened. This includes Carter's current girlfriend, Gigi Dolin, who tweeted "This world makes me sick" shortly after news of Nash's WWE departure broke.

Erica Marie, who is married to Carter's long-time tag team partner Wes Lee, has alleged that Carter has been living under their roof for several months, accusing Kimber Lee of "mentally abusing" Nash.

Carter had been with WWE since signing in December 2020. MSK became NXT Tag Team Champions for a second time last Friday, defeating Imperium and The Creed Brothers at Stand and Deliver in Dallas, Texas.
