Why WWE Is Suddenly CENSORING Jey Uso
It's "YEET!" no more for Jey Uso in WWE. Here's what's going on...
Jey Uso's "Yeet!" catchphrase is no more in WWE, with the promotion no longer associating Uso with the word after running into trademarking issues.
WrestleVotes has reported as much. The news and rumours account posted the following a few hours ago:
As evident on RAW just now, I’m told WWE has found trademark issues with Jey Uso’s “Yeet.” The word & merchandising will no longer be associated with Uso going forward.
At least one Yeet shirt was still available on WWE Shop at the time of publishing. This may not be the case for long.
WWE censored the word from a video package that aired on Raw last night, blurring Uso's t-shirt out. This appears to be a consequence of the trademarking issues.
Uso adopted "yeet" following the Fastlane press conference in October, where he and partner Cody Rhodes stole the show. It has since caught on huge with WWE crowds, to the extent that the promotion has monetised it through merchandise, taking advantage of Uso's growing popularity.
The United States Patent and Trademark Office's database currently contains information on 33 applications containing the word "yeet."
