Will Ospreay Signs New 5-Year NJPW Contract?
The Aerial Assassin will be staying in Japan for a long, long time.
Global wrestling standout Will Ospreay has dedicated his future to New Japan Pro Wrestling for at least the next five years.
'The Aerial Assassin' tweeted the following yesterday afternoon, insinuating that he may have signed a new deal with the promotion:-
This is encouraging news all-round. Ospreay, at 26-years-old, has evolved into one of the most cutting-edge wrestlers on the planet. Always a high-flier par excellence, recent years have seen the English transform into something greater, improving his selling and storycraft while adjusting his arsenal to something more sustainable - and, crucially, more in-line with NJPW's typical main event style.
2019 has brought awesome, electrifying bouts with the likes of Shingo Takagi, Kazuchika Okada, and Kota Ibushi, elevating Ospreay to number one on many a tentative 'Wrestler of the Year' ballot. Most recently, he scored the biggest win of his career by besting NJPW legend Hiroshi Tanahashi in the G1 Climax tournament. He's flying, NJPW clearly have big plans for him, and he has put himself in the best possible position to flourish by dedicating his future to the Lion Mark.
Up next for Ospreay is a story-driven tag match pitting him and regular opponent Robbie Eagles against Bullet Club's El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori at Royal Quest (31 August).
