Wrestlemania 29 Live: Fandango Defeats Chris Jericho In Unimpressive Debut

By Matt Aspin /

Vince McMahon loves the Fandango gimmick so it was no surprise to see him win his debut match against Chris Jericho. What was surprising though was just how poor the match actually was. Jericho is usually the go to guy when Vince wants to make someone look better than they could ever make themselves look but tonight just wasn't his night. That's not to say Y2J wasn't fine in the ring it was more that the two men just didn't mesh well together and in fact delivered a match that would have looked equally poor on an episode of RAW or Smackdown. John Bradshaw Layfield's commentary was the highlight of this match as he lambasted Fandango for being so poor but still played up how impressive Curtis' win was considering Jericho is a former six time World Champion. If only Curtis had managed to make himself look as good as the commentators did because if this is as good as it gets then Fandango needs to take his shiny pants and go back to Florida. So far Wrestlemania 29 has lacked surprises which is fine but we at least want something to get excited about before the 4 main part timers make it onto television in about 3 hours. Let's hope WWE has something great up their sleeve as so far the show has been far from great.
