Braun Strowman will work his first WWE match in almost 500 days on next week's episode of SmackDown.

WWE has confirmed that Braun will go one-on-one with Alpha Academy man Otis on the show. This comes after Chad Gable stopped his partner from taking another kicking at the hands of Strowman on Friday's latest.

Braun's last WWE match before this one came on 15 May 2021. There, at WrestleMania Backlash, Strowman lost a three-way match to then-WWE Champ Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre. The company then released Braun (officially due to budget cuts) on 2 June.

He's back though, and will presumably demolish Otis in a short squash.

Triple H's approach to booking Braun this far has played before mixed reactions from fans online. Live crowds are treating him like a big star, but some have questioned why Strowman needs to run through several tag-teams on his own.

It shouldn't be too long before big Braun is back in the mix for titles though. Fans should expect WWE to hype up a series of squashes en route to January's Royal Rumble, for example. The giant will be a player in that 30-man match.
