Okay, so the Carlito vignettes were pretty much a knockoff of the Razor Ramon ones that aired years earlier, but they were a pretty solid knockoff. First of all, Carlito had the charisma to make the videos entertaining. He made them his own. WWE introduced us to the character on the beaches of the Caribbean just doing what Carlito does best: stealing apples, hitting on hot women and kicking over little girls' sandcastles. Who wouldn't love his life? He was also obsessed with being cool. In fact, not being cool went against absolutely everything that he believed in. And if you weren't cool, oh boy would he make you pay for it with an apple to the face! So who exactly did he think was cool? Well, basically himself and no one else. Sure, Carltio wasn't pure evil like some other heels in their vignettes, but WWE made it clear that he definitely needed someone to smack him around. Carlito's vignettes accomplished what all the great ones do: established his character, build up anticipation for his debut and made him seem like a future star. Now that's cool.
