It's for surprises like this that we watch the Rumble every year, and this one did not disappoint. By the 2008 Royal Rumble, Cena had been out with a pectoral injury for four whole months. And this was in the days before "Super Cena" was officially a thing, so fans actually had time to notice his absence and even miss him. When he returned as a surprise entry, it was completely shocking. Sadly, what started out as a great return was squandered in a mishandled road to Wrestlemania, and John Cena would go on to have an average 2008. But what a fantastic Rumble return this made.
