WWE: 10 ECW Match Types That Should Be Resurrected From Its Heyday

By Rod McCance /

4. Death Match

ECW had it all, amazing cruiser weights, great technical wrestling, but most people remember the violence. The death match was used pretty frequently in this organisation and there were a ton of different variations including a Mexican death match, a Japanese death match and a Taipei death match (match where both wrestlers dip there gloves on there hands in glue, then roll there hands inside a bucket of broken glass, which gets taped to there fists). A death match is essentially just a last man standing match only, more violent. I'd really never want to see this kind of match brought back, but there are certainly guys in modern WWE who could brawl and make you invest in a match like this.
