WWE: 10 Great Wrestlers Held Back By Terrible Gimmicks

By Danny Parker /

8. Diamond Dallas Page

When DDP signed with the WWE he was renowned as one of the biggest babyface wresters WCW had to offer. Yes, he had also proven that he could play the heel; but did McMahon really have to make every wrestler he signed from his previous rivals an incompetent heel? He was so over in the WCW that he was known as €˜the people€™s champion€™; sound familiar? Whilst it doesn€™t require a rocket scientist to see the obvious potential for a DDP Vs The Rock feud, it does apparently take more than the minds of the WWE creative team. Instead, they chose to have Diamond Dallas Page stalk The Undertaker€™s wife. Most WCW wrestlers brought into the WWE in the early 2000s were buried before being allowed any sort of impact, but DDP was misused and showed to be inferior more than most. Needless to say the wife stalker angle did very little for Page€™s WWE career and The Undertaker demolished him, he then got washed out to dry during the invasion angle.
