There are many specialty matches in WWE that are worth going out of your way to see. Some of them include: Ladder, Elimination Chamber, Hell in a Cell, Money in the Bank, TLC, Last Man Standing, Falls Count Anywhere, Street Fight and so on. I think wrestling fans take to these matches because they know there's a chance for special to happen. While the matches are safer than they used to be (there's nobody getting thrown off a cage like Mick Foley anymore), they still hold a special place in our hearts as something out of the ordinary. My favorite specialty match is a one on ladder match. Two wrestlers battle it out over a championship that's hanging from the rafters. The only way to get it is to beat down your opponent enough that you can climb up that ladder to gain possession of the coveted championship. The Shawn Michaels/Razor Ramon ladder match at WrestleMania 10 wasn't the first of its kind or even the first in WWE history (Michaels had a ladder match with Bret Hart a year earlier at a house show), but it's the most famous one. Michaels was phenomenal in bumping all over the ring while Ramon did his part too. The finish saw Michaels get his feet tied up in the ropes, which led to the Ramon win. The next WWE pay-per-view is called TLC and it takes place on Sunday December 15th. The main event will see John Cena defend the World Title against Randy Orton as he puts up the WWE Title in a TLC match with both championships hanging from the rafters. The event will also have a Tables Match, a Chairs Match and most likely a Ladder Match as well. It shows how popular these specialty matches are. It's not the only specialty match with a PPV named after it since shows like Elimination Chamber, Money in the Bank (one of my favorites) and Hell in a Cell have existed for several years now. A regular one on one match can often times be great, but there's something special about adding a stipulation to it. That's why the specialty match is another reason why it's a great time to be a WWE fan.
