WWE: 10 Reasons You Should Be A Fan Right Now

3. The Greatness Of CM Punk And Daniel Bryan

I was never a huge fan of the bigger wrestlers growing up. While friends of mine loved Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior, my favorites in that era were Randy Savage and Mr. Perfect. They weren't the jacked guys. They were regular sized guys who were really athletic. That's what I liked. Over the years my favorites became guys like Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio, Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho and men like that. I like the athleticism in wrestling (sorry Great Khali). My favorite performers in WWE today are CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. I think Punk's been on an incredible run in the last five years. He rose to prominence in 2009 with that feud with Jeff Hardy, in 2010 the Straight Edge Society brought a whole new sense of evil to WWE, then in 2011 he broke through with that Money in the Bank story and 2012 saw him hold the WWE Title for the entire year en route to the 434 day reign that ended at the Royal Rumble this year. He's the best talker in the game. I think he's one of the five best promo men ever. Whether heel or face he knows how to get reactions. The rise of Daniel Bryan in the past couple of years has been incredible to watch as well. I knew of Bryan Danielson long before he showed up in WWE, but what's impressed me the most since he's been there is his improvement as a character. His promos are good. His acting is strong. Obviously in-ring he's one of the best, but the way he's been able to package it all together has been awesome. As far as the way WWE has poorly booked Bryan since his ascension at SummerSlam 2013? That's a whole other column likely filled with anger because I think they absolutely dropped the ball with this guy. Obviously there's plenty of time for him to still be a top guy and I hope it happens, but everything since SummerSlam has been off for him in terms of the booking.
