In January of 2013, Ric Flair appeared on Miz TV and gave Miz permission to use his Figure Four Leglock in effect, christening a new "Nature Boy." With all due respect to Flair, though, it wasn't really necessary. The Miz had already established himself as the spiritual successor to "The Dirtiest Player in the Game." He wore the finest suits, spent his time with beautiful women (ahem, Maryse), and often adopted an interesting interpretation of the rules of wrestling. During his dastardly days The Miz, like Flair, was a creative cheater anybody can swing a steel chair or grab a handful of tights, but it takes foresight to enlist the help of an NXT rookie like Alex Riley or an announcer like Michael Cole. Also like Flair, The Miz wasn't the biggest, strongest, or most explosive WWE Champion. He'd often spend the bulk of a match at his opponent's mercy. Still, when it came down to the finish, he'd pull out the win by hook or by crook.
