5. He Actually Signed with WWE Once Before...And They Let Him Go!
Cesaro may look like a super-buff geography teacher, but hes actually a highly respected wrestler who has worked all over the world. As a result, it was only a matter of time before WWE saw the potential of this unique athlete and snapped him up. However, his initial deal with WWE developmental actually fell through. In fact, he never even got to wrestle a single match. In 2006, Castagnoli appeared as a police officer on an episode of RAW...To arrest wayward DX revivalists Triple H and Shawn Michaels, no less. Cesaro and his partner Michael Hutter - AKA current TNA star Ethan Carter III (who previously wrestled for WWE as Derrick Bateman), didnt get a huge amount of screen time, but both obviously made a lasting impression on WWE booking. From there, Castagnoli was given a tryout match (against a young Kofi Kingston) with Deep South Wrestling (DSW), which was then a WWE developmental territory. He was successful, even inking a deal, but he was released from his contract not long after signing it. Apparently, WWE didnt know a good thing when they saw it (lets not forget that they also let Daniel Bryan walk out the door as well!).
