WWE: 10 Worst Intercontinental Title Matches To Watch On The WWE Network

9. Godfather © vs. Goldust w/ The Blue Meanie: Backlash, 1999

Results: Godfather pins Goldust following the Ho Train, a Pimp Drop, and a bunch of wacky interference by the Blue Meanie at 5:12. Highlight: A "blinded" Goldust accidentally delivers a "Shattered Dreams" kick to Blue Meanie's balls. Lowlight: The suspension of disbelief needed to believe that Goldust could set-up Meanie in the corner, step back, and hit him with a running kick to the junk while blind. Review: Godfather was a popular, entertaining Attitude-Era showpiece on the mic and pre-match, but he was far from a strong worker during a match. It was his jovial personality, catchphrases, and half-naked "Hos" that helped him gain popularity. You could say the I-C Title was an award for all of his hard work over the years. This was his only successful title defense on PPV, and it consisted of: Godfather hitting powder into Goldust's eyes, leading to Goldust beating and ultimately kicking his cornerman The Blue Meanie in the crotch; Meanie returning the favor with an accidental headbutt to Goldust's golden globes; and Godfather hitting his Ho Train and Pimp Drop on both for the pinfall victory. It was an over-booked, sloppy comedy match that fit the characters involved, but wasted a valuable spot on a PPV. How it could have been better: The Hos could have stayed ringside to distract Goldust and gang-up on and beat-up Meanie, finally making themselves useful for once.
