When DDP was in WCW, he was one of the few wrestlers who had a theme song that you could immediately recognize when he was about to walk out onto the stage, but then he went to the WWF, and his theme became unrecognizable. Now, the WWF made many, many mistakes during The Invasion angle, and while giving DDP a new theme wasn't one of the biggest ones, it was a mistake nonetheless. DDP had a huge ripoff of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" accompanying him to the ring (and through the crowd), but it worked perfectly for him, but it seems that WWF wanted no part of this. Instead, he was given an incredibly generic rock theme that had no personality or energy - the kind of song that would have been beneath the lowliest jobbers, let alone someone who should have been pushed near the top of his new company. For WCW fans now starting to sample the WWF, it just felt off-putting: why was one of their heroes relegated to being stuck with that mess? It's not clear why DDP's new company ditched his old WCW theme while they kept Booker T's and Buff Bagwell's, but it only served to hurt their new acquisition - though probably not as bad as it did when he was booked to job to The Undertaker's wife.
