Yet another historic match from the equally historic night of Wrestlemania XX in 2004, this bout, despite being the opener, has become synonymous since for the Wrestlemania debut of John Cena and his first Championship victory. It also began a 'Streak' of 4 straight Wrestlemanias, during which Cena would compete in a Championship match and win (this time for the US Title, the following 3 for the WWE Championship). Several people were, as such, surprised when Cena lost to Orton at Wrestlemania 24 in 2008 as people were naturally beginning to assume that WWE were in the build-up to a prospective 'Streak vs Streak' match against Undertaker somewhere down the line. We're still all wondering and waiting for the day that Cena will have his chance to break Undertaker's streak. Far from a technical classic, this match itself is nothing to shake a stick at but when you consider the proportions it has taken on since, compared to the, frankly irrelevant, WWE Championship match that night, it establishes itself as another one of 'Mania's most prolific under-card gems.
