WWE 205 Live is to occasionally feature wrestlers above the standard 205-pound weight limit going forward.

The promotion announced as much while confirming Joe Gacy vs. Josh Briggs for tonight's show, including the following sentence in the copy:-

"The purple brand will now occasionally play host to matches where one or multiple Superstars eclipse the 205-pound weight limit, setting the stage for a colossal main event between Gacy and Briggs."

Gacy and Briggs both weigh in over the 205lb limit, tipping the scales at 249lbs and 268lbs respectively. They aren't the first oversized wrestlers to hit the purple brand, however, with the 405lb Odyssey Jones beating Grayson Waller on the 6 July episode. Situations like this now look set to become more of a regular occurrence.

Waller vs. Ikemen Jiro has also been confirmed for tonight's 205 Live, though both men fall under the traditional limit.

205 Live has been hit particularly hard by WWE's recent talent cuts, with the official roster page listing only one 205 full-timer (Jiro) alongside a commentator (Nigel McGuinness), the semi-retired Brian Kendrick, Santos Escobar (who hasn't wrestled on 205 since December 2020), and Mark Andrews (currently working on NXT UK). The show has been around since November 2016, when it was introduced to accommodate the revived cruiserweight division.
