WWE: 5 Major Accomplishments Still Eluding CM Punk

By Sean Gerber /

3. Compete In A Once In A Lifetime Match

At the height of his popularity, The Rock faced Hulk Hogan. The People's Champion returned the favor by facing John Cena (twice) while the latter was considered the face of WWE. CM Punk has competed in his share of "dream matches" for pure wrestling fans, like his bouts with Chris Jericho and Daniel Bryan, but Punk has not faced the one icon even he admits he'd love to face one day- Stone Cold Steve Austin. Fortunately for Punk and the WWE Universe, Austin has already said that if he ever came back for one match, it'd be against Punk. That alone speaks volumes, as Austin could have come back to face anyone in the last decade, but hasn't. Austin respects Punk and both are aware of the perfect matchup between them. Stone Cold's beer swilling is a perfect opposite to Punk's straightedge lifestyle. One can just imagine the great promos building up to the match. The match itself should also be great. Even if Austin is as rusty as one might expect after a long layoff, Punk has proven he can carry just about anyone to a great match. Plus, Austin isn't going to bother coming back unless he can go. If Austin can't go, Shawn Michaels would be a worthy substitute. Regardless of the legendary opponent, Punk should go over and secure a historical victory.
