WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (April 24)

1. RIP Chyna

Dammit. In professional wrestling there a lot of people who come out of the business far worse than when they came in. Sometimes, though, they€™re able to pick up the pieces and move on. We€™ve seen the likes of Shawn Michaels, Jake Roberts and Scott Hall get clean, and turn their lives around. Chyna was someone we desperately wanted to find that same peace. It never happened.

If you watched any of her online videos over the past few years, it felt like her death was inevitable. There was clearly something wrong, but no one was able to help her. Maybe it was impossible. At one point, she was the most popular woman in the entire wrestling business. She€™s someone, perhaps under different circumstances, who could still be making a living in wrestling, or at least healthy and clear-minded enough to make an occasional appearance.

While nearly everyone in WWE who has problems with the company comes back eventually (Hogan, Piper, Lesnar, Sable), Chyna never did. It€™s doubtful she ever got an invite. Her departure was a horrifying, traumatic situation, and perhaps a split she was never able to mentally get over.

In my teenage years I had a blast watching her in DX, and later teaming up with Eddie Guerrero (Mamacita! You want some Latino Heat?). She was an important, and sadly, mostly forgotten star of the era. Due to her personal issues, outside business ventures, and bad break up with the company, she€™s been relegated to a minor footnote, instead of being celebrated as a brave trailblazer.

Axel Rotten, Balls Mahoney and Chyna all passed away in 2016, all in the range of 44-to-46 years old. It€™s a bad time to be a fan. I wish there was something more positive to say, but there just isn€™t.

Dammit.

Time to kick out.
