If theres one thing TNA could do better than WWE right now, its to have a bunch of smaller, athletically gifted wrestlers tearing it up each week on TV. The E hasnt tried that approach in years, so why not take advantage of it and stand out? Theres already a template to model it after, just watch the WCW Cruiserweight Division of old, or the X-Division in the first couple years after the companys inception. But nothing ever changes. It seems every year, TNA talks of getting serious about rejuvenating the division once more, only for nothing to happen. Last week the very promising Trevor Lee defeated Tigre Uno in a 5 minute match to capture the title. The way to frame that is to say it was a dominating victory, theres a new face of the division, and he dares anyone to take the belt from him. Let Trevor gloat about how easily he defeated the former champ. This week, though, neither of the two competitors talked, they had a rematch, neither of their entrances aired, it was over in another 5 minute match, and never mentioned again. Long gone are the days of Samoa Joe, A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels tearing it up in the ring over the X-Division belt. It shouldnt be that hard to make it work again, but for some reason, the company cant be bothered to put any effort into it.
